Biography
Ramizah Wan Muhammad
Ramizah Wan Muhammad is an Associate Professor at the Department of Islamic Law, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, IIUM. She completed her L.L.B in 1992, LL.B (Shariah) in 1993, Master of Comparative Laws in 1994 and PhD in 2006 at the same university. Her research interests are on administration of syariah courts and Islamic criminal justice in Malaysia and ASEAN countries, alongside Islamic medical law and broader Islamic jurisprudence. She has edited Keadilan Restoratif di Mahkamah Syariah dan Sivil di Malaysia (2018) in Bahasa Melayu; and published two books in English–Islamic Judiciary in Selected ASEAN Countries (2008) and Uqubah (Punishment) in Islam: Malaysia & Pakistan (2020). Hailing from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Dr Ramizah teaches Islamic Legal System, Usul al Fiqh and Islamic Criminal Law at the undergraduate level; as well as Administration of Islamic Affairs for postgraduate programme and Diploma of Administration and Islamic Judiciary (DAIJ) at Harun M. Hashim Law Centre, IIUM.
